Northeast Medical purchased the TLC-Lakeshore Hospital in Irving, according to a June 21 news release from state Sen. George Borrello.
TLC-Lakeshore Hospital closed in 2020 after reporting a $7.1 million deficit in 2019. The former hospital had a 20-bed inpatient behavioral health unit and a 20-bed addiction treatment center.
A spokesperson for Northeast Medical told the Observer the company plans to use as much of the hospital’s existing infrastructure as possible.
“Particularly important is the fact that this new medical center will restore the mental health services that the area lost when Lakeshore closed,” Mr. Borrello said. “With our population’s mental health and addiction problems skyrocketing, the need for a center like this in our rural community is enormous.”
