26 mental health company expansions, acquisitions, mergers in January

Here are 26 acquisitions, expansions and mergers among mental health companies reported on by Becker's since Jan. 3:

  1. York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health added 22 beds to its WellSpan Philhaven facility in Mount Gretna, Pa., through a $7 million expansion.

  2. Beachwood, Ohio-based Arc Health acquired the Lilac Center, a mental healthcare provider group with locations in Kansas and Missouri. 
  1. Pittsburgh-based University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Behavioral Health opened a new facility to increase community access to child and adolescent behavioral health services.
  1. Colorado Center for Clinical Excellence, a mental healthcare provider group in Denver, was acquired by Arc Health.
  1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based healthcare provider Premise Health opened a new wellness center in Northbrook, Ill. Services offered include primary care, behavioral health treatment and preventive screenings.
  1. Bolivar, Mo.-based Citizens Memorial Hospital will open a new behavioral health facility in February to serve patients while they wait to get established with a provider.
  1. Arlington, Va.-based VHC Health and Arlington County officials have planned a joint venture advanced rehabilitation and behavioral health treatment center. 
  1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health acquired Tucson, Ariz.-based Cornerstone Behavioral Health El Dorado. 
  1. Newton (N.J.) Medical Center opened a dedicated emergency department behavioral health unit.
  1. Cincinnati Children's opened a medical center that provides mental healthcare treatment with cardiovascular care.
  1. Voyages Behavioral Health, an affiliate of Enola, Pa.-based Pam Health, is building a behavioral health hospital in Conroe, Texas.
  1. Trident Health is set to open Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness, a 60-bed behavioral health hospital in North Charleston, S.C.
  1. Valera Health and Cascade Health Alliance partnered to increase access to Valera's virtual behavioral health services to individuals in Oregon.
  1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health and Cincinnati-based Mercy Health partnered to build an inpatient behavioral health hospital in Ohio's Mahoning Valley area. 
  1. Bozeman, Mont.-based virtual mental healthcare provider Charlie Health expanded its treatment network to Florida, its third expansion since December. The treatment program is now available in 19 states.
  1. Ohio-based White Light Behavioral Health opened its first addiction treatment center in Columbus.
  1. Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare is planning a new inpatient behavioral health center in Madison, Wis.
  1. Mercy Health-Youngstown (Ohio) and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Behavioral Health agreed to a joint venture partnership to build a new inpatient behavioral health center in the Mahoning Valley region of Ohio. 
  1. Avesi Partners, a private equity investment firm, made a growth investment in Petaluma, Calif.-based Muir Wood, an adolescent-focused behavioral health provider. 
  1. Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health opened its $84 million behavioral health campus in Akron. The seven-floor Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion will offer services including inpatient care, outpatient programs, geriatric care and a trauma center.
  1. SimiTree, a behavioral healthcare consulting and revenue cycle management firm, acquired Afia, a behavioral health data analytics and consulting company, and GreenpointMed, a medical billing and healthcare credential provider.
  1. Phoenix-based Meadows Behavioral Healthcare opened an outpatient mental health and substance use treatment center in Denver.
  1. Los Angeles-based Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center will receive $19.2 million to expand its adolescent behavioral health services facility.
  1. Canton, Mass.-based Point32Health partnered with behavioral telehealth provider Valera Health.
  1. Franklin, Tenn.-based Summit BHC opened a mental health and addiction treatment center in Sacramento, Calif.
  1. Tampa, Fla.-based BayCare Health System acquired Northside Behavioral Health Center, also in Tampa, after managing the facility for seven years.
