23 hospitals to receive new psychiatry residency slots

A total of 23 hospitals will receive Medicare-supported psychiatric residency slots. 

CMS recently awarded a total of 200 new residency positions to 109 hospitals. The new positions take effect July 1, 2025. Around 70% of the Medicare-funded positions are in psychiatry and family medicine. 

Since 2021, Congress has authorized funding for 1,200 Medicare-supported positions. CMS has awarded half of these positions to date. 

Here are the 23 hospitals receiving funding for psychiatry residencies: 

  1. Ascension St. Mary's Hospital (Saginaw, Mich.)
  2. Augusta (Ga.) University Medical Center
  3. Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis)
  4. Billings (Mont.) Clinic 
  5. Carilion Medical Center (Roanoke, Va.)
  6. Cleveland Clinic
  7. Duke University Hospital (Durham, N.C.)
  8. Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center (New York City)
  9. Mission Hospital (Asheville, N.C.)
  10. Montefiore Medical Center (New York City)
  11. Mount Sinai St. Luke's-Roosevelt (New York City)
  12. North Carolina Baptist Hospital (Winston-Salem, N.C.)
  13. Parkland Health (Dallas)
  14. Queens Hospital Center (Jamaica, N.Y.)
  15. St. Barnabas Hospital (New York City)
  16. St. Charles Medical Center Bend (Ore.)
  17. St. Joseph's Medical Center (Stockton, Calif.)
  18. Swedish Hospital (Chicago)
  19. University Hospital (Louisville, Ky.)
  20. University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital 
  21. University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas 
  22. UofL Health-Louisville (Ky.)
