The 18-bed unit will serve adult patients with behavioral health needs from 22 counties in Northern Michigan. The unit aims to address a lack of behavioral healthcare in the region, where the nearest psychiatric care option was previously 80 miles away, the report said.
Matthew McKenna, MD, will lead psychiatric services in the new unit.
