10 most expensive states for therapy

New York is the most expensive state for average therapy fees, according to a study by behavioral health site Zencare.

Alaska comes in second, and four of the top 10 are in the Northeast region. Seven states have average fees of $200 or higher per visit, and only five have fees of $150 or lower.

The 10 most expensive states by average therapy session fee:

  1. New York – $213.40
  2. Alaska – $207.30
  3. Maine – $206.50
  4. Utah – $203.40
  5. New Hampshire – $202
  6. Hawaii – $200
  7. Mississippi – $200
  8. New Jersey – $198.20
  9. West Virginia – $196
  10. Nebraska – $193
