Washington nonprofits merge to launch infant mental health center

Childhaven and the Washington Association for Infant Mental Health have merged to launch a center for workforce development in infant and early childhood mental health.

The merger was approved by both organizations' boards and went into effect July 1, according to a July 11 news release. Through this merger, WA-AIMH will become part of Childhaven while maintaining its membership in the National Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health.

WA-AIMH, which was first founded in 2014, will also continue to serve as the state's central resource for infant early childhood mental health endorsement and training.

The workforce development hub is scheduled to open in fall 2023 and will offer online and in-person training, resources and tools for healthcare providers on how best to support the mental health of young children and families, the release said.
