UNC launches program on suicide reduction program

Carolina Across 100 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has partnered with the UNC Suicide Prevention Institute to launch a statewide program focused on reducing suicide across the state.

The groups will conduct cross-sector community efforts focused on implementing strategies to prevent suicide and suicidal ideation and improving resources available for mental and behavioral health over the next year, according to a June 13 news release from the university.

Participating communities will work with government agencies, school systems, institutions of higher education, healthcare providers and faith- and community-based organizations to identify community needs and target populations, align resources and develop prevention plans.

Communities can apply to participate in the program between June 13 and July 28.
