Four cities tied for the highest suicide rate in the U.S. and two cities in New Jersey had the lowest suicide rates, according to financial website WalletHub.
The data is part of WalletHub’s research in ranking the “Happiest Cities in America” for 2025. The study evaluated 182 of the nation’s largest cities, including 150 most populated cities plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state. Cities were measured based on 29 indicators of happiness, including depression rate, income growth rate and average amount of leisure time per day.
Here are the cities with the highest and lowest suicide rates.
