The Eugene-based University of Oregon will use an $11 million federal grant to establish a national center for children’s mental health.

The National Institute of Mental Health will fund the center for five years, according to a July 2 news release.

The center’s first projects will focus on middle school-age children, according to the release. The flagship project will combine inclusive learning practices with programs to help parents support children’s mental health.

Other planned projects include efforts to support healthy technology use and programs for undergraduate students to gain experience with child mental health by interning in middle schools.
