Rural mental health program expanding to all 102 Illinois counties

A program that provides more accessible mental healthcare to rural communities received funding to expand across the entirety of the state of Illinois, according to an Aug. 30 report from wfiwradio.com.

The Farm Family Resource Initiative aims to improve the mental health of rural farmers and agricultural communities by providing access to virtual mental health appointments and a telehealth helpline. 

It began as a pilot program in six counties, and it will now expand to cover all 102 counties. Additionally, the expansion will include six free telehealth sessions among family members, according to the report.
