The five-year plan focuses on four main areas to increase mental health access and care for patients below 18 years old, including early intervention, special services, inpatient hospital care and new research.
Children’s Mercy has already raised $70 million for the “Illuminate” initiative through state and private funding, with $50 million coming from the Sunderland Foundation. Funding will be used to support the four key areas that aim to help at least 80,000 children in the area, the report said.
