HHS puts $50M behind rural opioid use treatment

HHS will provide $50 million in funding to providers treating opioid use disorder in rural areas.

The grants will go to several initiatives, including mobile clinics providing medication for opioid use disorder and efforts to integrate medication treatment into primary care, according to a March 6 news release from HHS.

The agency will also fund rural recovery services and social supports, including housing, employment training and other social determinants of health.

Applications for funding will be accepted through May 6.
