Riverview, Fla.-based River Oaks Treatment Center has expanded its behavioral health services with the opening of an inpatient mental health unit.
The unit offers evidence-based treatment for conditions such as major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to a Dec. 23 news release. Integrated care is available for individuals with co-occurring substance use challenges.
Chris Bailey, PhD, executive director of River Oaks Treatment Center, said the addition addresses Florida’s critical mental healthcare gap. The state ranks second in the country for prevalence of mental illness yet faces a shortage of behavioral health services, Dr. Bailey said.
River Oaks, part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based American Addiction Centers, has historically specialized in addiction treatment and care for co-occurring disorders. Its expanded mission now includes primary mental health diagnoses, serving Floridians who struggle to find timely care.
