CDC: More than half of healthcare workers display symptoms of anxiety

More than half of healthcare workers report experiencing anxiety symptoms, according to recent data released by the CDC.

The data was pulled from the General Social Survey Quality of Worklife Module that compared self-reported mental health symptoms among U.S. adult workers, including 226 health workers in 2018 and 325 in 2022.

Fifty-seven percent of healthcare workers reported experiencing anxiety, while 34% reported experiencing symptoms of depression in 2022. They also reported averaging 4.5 poor mental health days over the last 30 days.

Meanwhile, 13.4% reported being harassed at work, and 9% said they were in a poor psychosocial climate.
