Redondo Beach, Calif.-based Clear Behavioral Health, a mental health and substance use disorder service provider, has launched a virtual intensive outpatient program for LGBTQIA+ individuals on Oct. 15.
The program offers specialized mental health care for individuals who require more support than weekly therapy, but do not need residential treatment, according to an Oct. 15 news release. Offered services include group therapy, individual counseling and trauma-informed care within a queer-affirming framework.
The virtual format provides statewide accessibility and aims to eliminate geographical and privacy barriers that may prevent individuals from accessing affirming care. The program is staffed by LGBTQIA+-identified clinicians and allies trained in trauma-informed practices, according to the news release.
Over 40% of transgender adults have attempted suicide, and LGBTQIA+ adults are nearly four times more likely to experience serious thoughts of suicide than heterosexual adults, according to the release. Clear Behavioral Health said it developed the virtual program to address these disparities and to provide identity-affirming, inclusive care.
