The survey was conducted online between Aug. 3 and Aug. 7 and surveyed 2,016 U.S. adults aged 18 years or older who agreed to answer questions about sensitive and personal information related to mental health.
Here are five other takeaways from the survey:
- 36 percent of respondents said they had moments in the past year where they contemplated suicide.
- 89 percent said suicide prevention should be a major priority in our society.
- 32 percent said they can recognize the warning signs of someone potentially at risk of suicide.
- 43 percent said they were strongly aware of resources that offer support and information on suicide prevention.
- 77 percent said healthcare providers play a crucial role in suicide prevention, with the opportunity for them to have more discussions about suicide with patients.
