In the report, published May 15, the information and analytics firm examined deidentified claims data. Insurance claims for mental health diagnoses rose 11% from 2022 to 2023, according to the report.
The analysis found claims related to ADHD are climbing among all age groups. Among adults 18-34, the number of patients with an ADHD diagnosis rose by 61% from 2019 to 2023, and claims rose by 101%. Among adults 45-64, the number of patients with ADHD rose by 45%, and claims were up by 70%.
Among adults 65 and older, ADHD diagnoses were up 40%, and claims were up 60% from 2019 to 2023.
