17 new mental health facilities in February

Here are 17 newly announced or opened behavioral health treatment centers covered by Becker's in February: 

1. Crowley, La.-based Compass Health opened a behavioral health center in Lafayette, La.The 7,600-square-foot facility offers six group rooms for intensive outpatient therapy and a mental health clinic.

2. The Lenape Valley Foundation in Doylestown, Pa., alongside several organizations within Bucks County, Pa., plans to open a new behavioral health crisis center in the city. The facility will care for patients of all ages experiencing a behavioral health crisis, including issues stemming from mental health, drug and alcohol use, and intellectual disabilities.

3. St. Joseph, Mo.-based Family Guidance Center is set to open a behavioral health urgent care center offering treatment for adults and children with mental health and substance use disorders. 

4. California's Santa Clara County broke ground on a 207,000-square-foot, $422 million behavioral health center. The Child, Adolescent and Adult Behavioral Health Services Center on the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center campus in San Jose will provide the first county-operated acute inpatient care.

5. California Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to allocate $907 million for a new initiative to provide housing for homeless individuals with severe behavioral health issues. The Behavioral Health Bridge Housing program will provide "bridge housing" such as tiny homes, interim housing, rental assistance programs and assisted living settings.

6. Easterseals DC MD VA secured $900,000 through the Fiscal Year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Bill to develop a community behavioral health clinic for patients in Prince George's County, Md.

7. Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed received regulatory approval for two new hospitals, including a $137 million behavioral health facility. The 150-bed mental health hospital will be built in Knightdale, N.C. 

8. Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services' new joint venture mental health facility, Southridge Behavioral Hospital in Byron Center, Mich., is expected to open in 2025.

9. Cherokee Nation unveiled its first in-house drug treatment center as part of a $100 million investment in mental health through the nation's Public Health and Wellness Fund Act. Construction on the $18 million, 17,000-square-foot center is set to begin this year.

10. Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health opened a behavioral health treatment center in North Little Rock. The facility will offer services including substance abuse treatment, stress management and psychiatric care.

11. Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health is planning a $10.4 million, 54-bed children's behavioral hospital in Granville County.

12. Pennsylvania-based health systems Lehigh Valley Health Network and Universal Health Services partnered to build a behavioral health hospital in the state's Hanover Township.

13. Blair Drug and Alcohol Partnerships is building a $1.3 million behavioral health unit at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Altoona.

14. Ballad Health opened a 24-hour center at the Woodridge psychiatric hospital in Johnson City, Tenn. The center will provide inpatient and outpatient mental health services to children, adults and older adults in the area.

15. Boston-based Stepping Stones Group cut the ribbon on its new autism treatment center in Springfield, Mass.

16. Yuma (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center plans to open a behavioral health clinic that will house 24 inpatient beds.

17. New York City-based Williamsburg Therapy Group opened a location in Austin, Texas, the group's second overall.
