San Francisco plans to convert the Behavioral Health Center at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital into a locked psychiatric facility for homeless individuals, the San Francisco Standard reported June 4.
The conversion is part of Mayor Daniel Lurie’s broader plan to address homelessness in the city. The center will become a mental health rehabilitation facility for individuals needing continual psychiatric care, per the report.
The facility is currently inhabited by 82 residents, who are set to be moved to facilities outside the hospital later this year.
