The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health launched the Systems for Phenotypic Evaluation, Clinical Trajectories, Response, and Agency program Sept. 17.
Here are four things to know:
1. SPECTRA will bring together biological, clinical, behavioral and real-world data with advanced computational tools to enable earlier and more accurate autism diagnosis and develop more precise approaches to care.
2. One in 31 8-year-olds in the U.S. have been identified with autism spectrum disorder. A widely cited analysis projected annual U.S. autism-related costs of about $461 billion by 2025.
3. The program will use objective biological data and computational models to identify autism spectrum disorder risk factors, match individuals to appropriate interventions and accelerate clinical research for new adaptive therapies.
4. SPECTRA will focus on four areas: analysis, modeling, precision intervention and enabling technologies.
