HHS commits $25M to grow primary care, mental health services in schools

HHS will make available $25 million to expand primary healthcare and mental health services in schools through the Health Resources and Services Administration.

This marks the first time applicants will be required to expand or add mental health services to be eligible for school-based funding, according to a March 10 news release from the department.

The HRSA aims to dole out 70 awards to fund general primary medical and mental healthcare to new and existing school-based sites. The funding is part of the Biden administration's effort to strengthen mental health across the country, the release said.
