Colorado psychiatry practice to pay $1.9M to settle fraud allegations

A Colorado psychiatry practice agreed to pay $1.9 million to settle allegations that it knowingly double billed time to receive increased Medicare and Medicaid payments.

The government alleged that Aurora-based Mile High Psychiatry, which provides telepsychiatry services throughout Colorado, submitted inflated bills from 2017 to 2021 on thousands of patient visits, according to a Sept. 11 Justice Department news release.

The allegations were brought to the government's attention by a whistleblower, who will receive $325,000 from the settlement.

Mile High Psychiatry does not admit to any liability, the release said.
