CMS is proposing adding additional billing codes for integrated behavioral services and reimbursing additional digital mental health options in 2026.
The agency published its proposed physician fee schedule for 2026 July 14. CMS is proposing an overall 3.6% bump in Medicare physician pay next year.
Here are three things to know about the fee schedule’s behavioral health provisions:
- CMS is proposing adding additional billing codes to advanced primary care management services to facilitate providing integrated behavioral health services.
- The agency also proposed adding Medicare reimbursement for digital mental health services to treat ADHD.
- CMS is seeking feedback on adding additional billing codes for digital mental health services provided as part of ongoing mental healthcare.
In 2025, Medicare reimbursed FDA-approved digital therapies for mental health for the first time. The agency also added new codes allowing providers to bill for creating patient safety interventions.
