Ms. Shafer joins MHC from SSM Health in St. Louis, where she began serving as regional vice president of behavioral health in 2015, according to LinkedIn. She also previously served as administrative director of the behavioral health service line for Indiana University Health from 2009 to 2015.
MHC was first formed in 1993 and was the merger of community organizations Urban Case Management of Meharry Community Health Center, Continuous Treatment Team of Council of Community Services and Mobile Crisis Team of the Crisis Intervention Center.
Ms. Shafer will take over the CEO role in April from Pam Womack, who is retiring after 31 years, the report said.
