BayCare taps new chief information officer

Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare has named William Walders as its next chief information officer.

Mr. Walders was the chief information officer and senior vice president of operations support for Melbourne, Fla.-based Health First before joining BayCare in April, according to a May 1 news release. 

Additionally, he has served as global vice president of data platforms and enterprise services at the Defense Health Agency and chief information officer for Bethesda, Md.-based Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is also a retired U.S. Navy commander and recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. 

Mr. Walders was also named CIO Leadership Network’s “Florida Large Enterprise CIO of the Year” in 2022 and was a finalist for National CIO of the Year. 

He succeeds Tim Thompson in his role at BayCare, who was promoted to chief administrative officer in February.
