Appalachian Regional Healthcare names director of behavioral health pharmacy

Colby Newsome, PharmD, has been named director of behavioral health pharmacy for Appalachian Regional Healthcare.

Dr. Newsome first joined ARH as a pharmacist in 2015 at Hazard (Ky.) ARH Regional Medical Center, according to an Oct. 12 news release. He began serving as coordinator of clinical pharmacy services at Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky., in 2019.

Dr. Newsome most recently began serving as director of inpatient pharmacy in January and currently serves on the patient care teams at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center and Harlan (Ky.) ARH Hospital.

“This new position for ARH shows our commitment to serving patients with behavioral health needs,” Dr. Newsome said in the release. “We are adapting and advancing new therapies and acknowledging new needs in our behavioral health patients. As this field continues to change, we should, too.”
