Former Optum, Kaiser exec takes on mental health CMO role

Douglas Newton, MD, has been named chief medical officer at Los Angeles-based mental healthcare provider Rula Health.

Dr. Newton previously held leadership roles at mental healthcare provider SonderMind, Optum and Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, according to a July 11 news release from Rula. He has more than 20 years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist.

Rula Health, previously known as Path Mental Health, operates a network of more than 9,000 providers, and offers therapy services across 48 states and psychiatric care in 39 states, according to the release.
