Washington system plans $13M behavioral unit expansion

Sunnyside, Wash.-based Astria Health has broken ground on a 14-bed expansion to the behavioral health unit at Astria Toppenish (Wash.) Hospital. 

The expansion will cost $13.1 million, according to a July 2 news release from the system. When the new space is complete, the hospital will serve an estimated 157 more psychiatric patients annually. 

The civil commitment program at the hospital provides long-term, intensive inpatient care to patients from across Washington, according to the release.
