Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed broke ground Nov. 6 on the Whole Health Campus in Garner (N.C.), which will be anchored by a 150-bed behavioral health hospital developed in partnership with Towson, Md.-based Sheppard Pratt.

The WakeMed Mental Health and Well-Being Hospital aims to reduce stigma and improve access to behavioral health services as part of an integrated model of care, according to a Nov. 4 news release.

It will sit alongside a 45-bed acute care hospital on a 56-acre campus that connects mental and physical services. The site is part of a broader 226-acre mixed-use development focused on healthy living, according to the news release.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
