Aurora-based University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has received a $50 million grant from the Anschutz Foundation to launch a new mental health initiative.

The funding will support the CU Anschutz Campus Mental Health Collaborative, a cross-campus effort to unify clinical, research and community-based programs addressing youth and adult mental health needs, according to a Sept. 23 news release from the university. The gift is the first contribution toward a $200 million fundraising campaign.

The initiative will involve partners including the University of Colorado School of Medicine, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado. The effort aims to expand access, test new treatments and improve integration of mental health into primary care, the release said.
