Texas behavioral health network receives $750K grant

The Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network, based in Waco, Texas, received a $750,000 two-year grant from the Episcopal Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Houston, according to a June 26 report from the Waco Tribune-Herald.

The main goals of the grant are to form a comprehensive rural integrated health program, expand upon existing partnerships and arrange the necessary resources to achieve the program's goals, according to Tom Christian, the director of grants and special projects at Heart of Texas.

The integrated health program will introduce behavioral health programming into rural areas where care options are in short supply. The community center system provides service to six rural counties surrounding Waco, Texas. The grant will predominantly go toward expanding behavioral health resources to Limestone, Freestone and Falls counties, according to the release.
