Southwest Vermont Medical Center in Bennington will move forward with plans to renovate its inpatient mental health unit for adolescents after receiving approval from the town’s board, the Bennington Banner reported Jan. 21.
Project engineers plan to renovate 6,600 square feet of existing space at the hospital and add about 1,200 square feet to the unit. The unit was approved by the Green Mountain Care Board in March 2025, with plans to serve patients ages 12 to 17.
The renovation is estimated to cost $10 million, with $9.25 million covered by the state, according to the report.
