Pittsburgh-based Blackbird Health opened a new clinic Jan. 5 in Mount Laurel, N.J., to expand access to pediatric mental health services across Burlington County.
The clinic offers in-person and virtual care for children, adolescents and young adults, including therapy, medication management, treatment for anxiety, depression and behavioral challenges, as well as assessments for ADHD and autism.
Blackbird Health said it aims to address growing demand and long wait times for care in the region. In New Jersey, 141,000 adolescents experience a major depressive episode annually, 91,000 report serious suicidal thoughts, more than one in three teens ages 13 to 17 have anxiety disorders, and 16% have mood disorders, according to a Jan. 5 news release from the system.
The Mount Laurel clinic was also designed to reduce the average nine-week wait time for pediatric mental healthcare in the U.S. It supports local mental health initiatives by offering comprehensive, community-integrated care, Nicole Garber, MD, chief medical officer, said.
