New York City-based Montefiore Health System received approval from the state to create a new center for children's mental health.
The system, located in the Bronx, will receive an additional $3.1 million from the state's Office of Mental Health to support the project, according to a July 1 news release from Montefiore.
The 21-bed unit will provide inpatient treatment for youths with serious behavioral health conditions, according to Montefiore. A large portion of funding for the center is provided by the state, with an additional $1 million in private support acquired by Montefiore.
The unit is expected to open before the end of the third quarter of 2025, the release said.
