Apex, N.C.-based NC Children’s has received a $25 million gift from Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Consolidated to support the development of its new campus in Apex.
The campus is expected to include a 570-bed, freestanding children’s hospital with more than 100 behavioral health beds and an outpatient center of excellence, according to a Jan. 15 news release shared with Becker’s. It is slated to open in the early 2030s and will offer a range of behavioral health services, including prevention, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient treatment.
NC Children’s was established in 2025 as a major partnership between Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health and Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health. The $25 million donation is the first major contribution toward the system’s goal of raising more than $1 billion for the Apex campus, according to the release.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
