Cincinnati-based Mercy Health and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Behavioral Health opened a new inpatient behavioral health hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, through a joint venture announced in 2023.

The new Mercy Health Behavioral Hospital spans nearly 62,000 square feet and includes 72 beds, according to a Dec. 9 news release. It will treat patients with a range of psychiatric conditions, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders. The facility will provide inpatient services upon opening and plans to add outpatient treatment, a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program.

The hospital is supported by a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and was designed to offer therapeutic environments with flexible clinical spaces, spacious rooms, an outdoor courtyard and group treatment areas.

Lifepoint Behavioral Health will manage day-to-day operations. The hospital joins a network of 25 free-standing behavioral health hospitals operated by the organization.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
