California county building $422M behavioral health center

California's Santa Clara County broke ground on a 207,000-square-foot, $422 million behavioral health center, according to a Feb. 22 news release shared with Becker's.

The Child, Adolescent, and Adult Behavioral Health Services Center on the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center campus in San José will provide the first county-operated acute inpatient care for an underserved population, according to the news release.

It will consolidate and integrate behavioral health services currently provided elsewhere throughout the hospital campus into a single facility. The center will include 77 inpatient beds, including 14 for children and 21 for adolescents, a pharmacy, emergency psychiatric services and mental health urgent care for youth, and 42 adult inpatient psychiatric beds and other adult services in a separate, secured area in the building.
