The Emily Program, an eating disorder treatment and behavioral health services provider, has added “homelike” lodging in Atlanta for adults participating in its partial hospitalization program.

The lodging is intended for patients traveling to the area for eating disorder treatment and is within walking distance of the organization’s Atlanta treatment program, according to a Feb. 2 news release. The fully furnished space is designed to support patients during treatment, including shared community areas, on-site laundry, a pool, outdoor lounge space and a parking garage.

“We know that beginning life-saving eating disorders treatment can be disruptive to everyday life, just like with other illnesses, particularly if that care is far from home,” Brad Smith, MD, chief medical officer of the program, said in the release. “Having a nearby place to stay during treatment, especially with others that understand what you are going through, helps make that care easier to engage with and for some, is the difference between being able to get the care they need or having to settle for less suitable care or no care at all.”

The organization said the lodging is aimed at reducing logistical barriers for patients who travel for specialty care and supporting continuity during treatment.
