Acorn Health closes, consolidates handful of clinics

Coral Gables, Fla.-based Acorn Health has closed one location and consolidated four others, chief clinical officer Krista Boe said in a statement shared with Becker's Feb. 4.

The company also laid off fewer than 25 employees as part of a reorganization, Ms. Boe said.

"Historically, we have had dedicated regional operations leaders and dedicated regional clinical leaders. We have reorganized to transition to a single responsible leader over clinical operations," Ms. Boe said. "This new position brings our clinical expertise and leadership closer to the operations of our centers."

Acorn Health provides applied behavioral analysis therapy for children with autism. The company operates more than 50 clinics in five states.

The company closed its site in Salem, Va., and consolidated four sites in Maryland, Virginia and Tennessee with other locations nearby, Ms. Boe said. At the consolidated sites, employees were transferred to nearby Acorn Health clinics, or are providing care to patients in their homes or schools.

"We've communicated closely with our current families and staff as these changes were made to ensure we acted ethically and responsibly and for continuity of care," Ms. Boe said.
