Irving-based New York Medical Center plans to convert the former Lakeshore Hospital in the city into a behavioral health and substance use recovery center.
The $42 million project will convert the 173,000-square-foot facility in two phases, beginning with inpatient units and later adding outpatient, therapy, dining and administrative space, WRFK Radio reported Aug. 28. New York Medical Center’s CEO, Raymond Manning, BSN, RN, presented the health system’s plans for the former hospital to officials in Chautauqua County on Aug. 26.
The project also will increase the facility’s capacity to 180 beds, according to a June 1 news release from New York Medical Center.
The new facility is projected to create 300 permanent jobs and will take around three years to complete, WRFA Radio reported.
