5 recent mental health investments worth over $90M

Here are five recent investments into behavioral healthcare in the U.S. totalling more than $90.6 million, as reported by Becker's since July 9:

1. The Cigna Group will provide $9 million over three years to projects providing housing and mental health support to veterans. 

2. CMS will fund at least 100 new psychiatry residency spots by establishing an application and award process for hospitals seeking funding for new residency positions using funding from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.

3. The Cigna Group is providing $9 million in funding to 22 nonprofit organizations to provide mental health support to youth. 

4. HHS and the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration unveiled grant awards totalling $45.1 million for mental health and substance use services. The grants will be used for a variety of mental health initiatives, with $15.3 million specifically for children and youth services.

5. HHS and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration allocated $27.5 million to fund opportunities aimed at improving women's mental health in the U.S., along with an additional $1 million in grants.
