The position will be established through a donation from Shawn Ryan, MD, an alumnus of the emergency medicine residency program, according to a Feb. 20 report from the university. Dr. Ryan currently serves on the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Legislative Advocacy Committee.
The Emergency Medicine Endowed Chair to Benefit the Acute Treatment of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder will have dedicated time for the research, treatment and education of mental health and substance use disorder.
