Fentanyl-laced cannabis found in 4 states

Cannabis is being increasingly found laced with fentanyl.

Police have claimed to find fentanyl-tainted cannabis in Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana and New York, Fox News reported May 15.

"In my clinical practice and among some of my peers, we’re seeing more kids reporting they thought they were just smoking marijuana, when drug screens show fentanyl — and they would have toxicological, or medical side effects consistent with that," Michael Wenzinger, MD, staff psychiatrist at St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine, told Fox affiliate KTVI.

The phenomenon is a recent one, the report said. It is unclear whether the fentanyl lacings are intentional or accidental.
