Construction for the $18 million, 17,000-square-foot center is set to begin this year, according to a Feb. 13 release from Cherokee Nation. The treatment center will be built in the Park Hill area of Tahlequah, the capital city of Cherokee County in Oklahoma.
The development is part of the $73 million behavioral health fund allocated through the amended Public Health and Wellness Fund Act for constructing facilities for behavioral health services.
The fund also includes $5 million for an endowment encouraging Cherokee citizens to enter the behavioral health field and $10 million for developing addiction recovery programs.
