Wernersville, Pa.-based Caron Treatment Centers has opened a gambling disorder track at its home campus, also in Wernersville, expanding access to care for patients with gambling disorder and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.

The track is designed to complement substance use disorder treatment, according to a Feb. 11 news release shared with Becker’s. It includes care from clinicians certified in problematic gambling, education on the neurological effects of gambling and cognitive behavioral therapy-informed interventions. Patients also receive weekly 12-step support with connections to peer-support groups and continuing care planning following discharge.

Caron’s aims to support long-term recovery through the program, according to the release. The organization said research has shown the disorder can co-occur with substance use disorder, depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Additional gambling-focused outpatient services are available at Caron’s Wyomissing (Pa.) Outpatient Treatment Center, according to the release.

The launch comes at a time when 24/7 access to sport betting is legal in 40 states and the District of Columbia, with 32 also offering online options.
