The award is part of the state’s Elevate Youth California program, which addresses substance abuse disorder, according to a May 2 news release from Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The organizations receiving these funds aid youth and young adults aged 12 to 26. Each organization is eligible for up to $400,000.

“Youth substance use and mental health challenges are at an all-time high in California, especially for youth of color and [Indigenous two-spirit]/LGBTQ+ youth,” Michelle Baass, California Department of Health Care Services director, said in the release. “Through Elevate Youth California, DHCS continues to provide safe spaces where youth have an equitable opportunity to receive behavioral health prevention services.”
