Anthem Blue Cross donates $1.2M to support addiction treatment

The Anthem Blue Cross Foundation has awarded $1.2 million in substance use disorder grants to five organizations based in California.

The grants will be used to support California residents with substance use disorders transition from treatment, incarceration and other high-risk settings into stable housing and increase access to prevention, treatment and recovery services across Los Angeles, Fresno and San Francisco counties, according to a Sept. 20 news release.

The grants awarded to California organizations are $300,000 to Homeboy Industries, $250,000 to LA Family Housing, $200,000 to the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles, $75,000 to Good Shepherd Gracenter in San Francisco and $400,000 to Fresno-based California Health Collaborative.
