Here are five numbers to know about substance use disorder from the survey:
- 48.7 million people had a substance use disorder in the last year.
- 29.5 million people had an alcohol use disorder.
- 27.2 million people had a drug use disorder.
- 8 million people had both an alcohol use and drug use disorder.
- The number of people with an SUD in the past year was highest among young adults between 18 and 25 at 27.8%, or 9.7 million people.
