Acadia Healthcare, a behavioral healthcare provider, has released its first quarter financial results.

The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network is asking the state of Michigan for $227 million to expand its crisis care and residential mental healthcare, the Detroit Free Press reported April 27.

Behavioral health is projected to be one of the fastest-growing areas in healthcare, by market value, over the next few years. Those projections may fall short, however, if provider shortages and other key obstacles aren't addressed.
