Albany, N.Y.-based Hixny, the healthcare information exchange of New York state, the New York State Office of Mental Health have integrated behavioral health data from the state’s Psychiatric Services and Clinical Knowledge Enhancement System into Hixny’s snapshot application, providing an “at-a-glance” patient medical history summary.

The integration allows providers to access PSYCKES data directly within patients’ community health records in Hixny, eliminating the need to log into a separate system, the organizations said in a May 7 news release. The platform is available within several major EHR systems, including Athena, Cerner, Epic and Medent.

PSYCKES is managed by the Office of Mental Health and gives clinicians access to a patient’s behavioral health history to support clinical decision-making and care coordination.

Providers using Hixny also can access behavioral health care coordinator information for consented clients, including health home care management programs, assertive community treatment teams and assisted outpatient treatment services. In June, the system will add information identifying individuals who need to recertify Medicaid eligibility.

The Office of Mental Health services nearly 800,000 individuals annually, operates 23 psychiatric centers and certifies more than 6,500 programs across the state.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
